Keeping Up Standards: Maintaining Your Commercial Pool

While you have to keep on top of the maintenance of your domestic pool, there’s even more responsibility involved with a commercial pool. After all, you’re responsible for the health and safety of members of the public who are using the water. As professional commercial pool cleaners, our team at Pool Assist know what it takes to keep your commercial pool properly maintained and today we’ll be sharing our top tips!

Clean out dirt and debris

To make sure your water stays crystal clear and inviting, you need to ensure that you keep your pool free from built up dirt and debris. Clean out the pool skimmer box on a regular basis, especially if your pool gets a lot of use. If you have a sand filter, you need to backwash regularly – the frequency will depend on level of use and the amount of debris. If you have a cartridge filter, check it regularly for build-up and then hose it off.

Maintain your equipment

If your pool equipment isn’t operating efficiently, it’s going to be difficult to keep your pool clean and healthy. Regularly check your equipment and ensure that there are no issues. If you suspect that you have a problem with your commercial pool equipment, get an expert out to take a look as soon as possible.

Balance the pH levels

It’s crucial that the pH levels in your commercial pool are balanced correctly. Ideally, your pH levels need to fall between 7.2 and 7.6. If your pH levels are too low, it means the water has become too acidic which means the water becomes corrosive and causes irritation to the eyes and skin. However, high pH isn’t a good thing either – if your pH levels are too high, it can lead to red eyes, dry skin and rashes. Not an enjoyable swimming experience!

Regular professional maintenance

Not only do you need to keep up with the maintenance of your commercial pool for the comfort of swimmers, you also need to comply with council regulations. To make life easier, enlist the help of a professional pool maintenance company. They’ll be able to keep your water balanced and clear, and will also keep an eye on your pool equipment to make sure it’s operating efficiently.
