Tips From Your Pool Cleaning Service: Preparing Your Pool For an Event

When you’re hosting an event in the warmer months, having a pool becomes a big drawcard. Not only is it a great way to allow guests to cool down, it also looks great as a backdrop to your outdoor entertaining. Of course, you want your pool to look its best if you’re going to be hosting an event. Let’s take a look at what you need to do to get your pool up to scratch for entertaining!

Get rid of dirt and debris
With an upcoming event, you need to clear out as much debris as possible from your pool. Not only will this make your pool look great, it also means your equipment will be able to function properly. Use your pool scoop to collect surface debris and clear our your skimmer basket so your filter can keep your water crystal clear. To help prevent debris building back up, keep the area around the pool swept and trim any pesky overhanging branches around the pool

Carry out a thorough clean
In the day or two prior to your event, it’s time to do a thorough clean of your pool for the best results possible on the day. Use a stiff brush to scrub the sides of the pool and then use your pool vacuum or robotic cleaner to collect dirt. Remember not to do this on the day of your party – you need to give your filter a change to clear the dirt that you’ve stirred up during the cleaning process. If you entertain regularly, a robotic pool cleaner is well worth the investment to make this job easier!

Test your water
It doesn’t take much for the pH levels of your pool to become unbalanced and the last thing you want is to have guests swimming in water which isn’t balanced. Even if the water looks great, you also need to remember to test your water a couple of days before your event. You can either do this by taking your water along to your local pool shop or using an at home water testing kit – you should be aiming for a pH level of between 7.2 and 7.6.

Call in the professionals
If you’re event is getting closer and closer and your pool is showing no signs of magically cleaning itself, it might be a good idea to call on an expert to take care of it for you. Your pool company will be happy to do a once-off clean to get your pool looking amazing and it’s one less thing for you to have to worry about. Not only that, they’ll also ensure that your water is clean and hygienic for optimal swimming conditions.
